Tap to Pay is a contactless payment feature in the Eatcard Self-Order Kiosk and POS tablet. Guests hold their contactless card or phone against the screen to pay, so you no longer need a separate PIN terminal, card reader or cable.
For years, a separate PIN terminal has been a fixed part of every counter and every kiosk. It needs a spot, a cable and a connection. With Tap to Pay, the screen your guests order on takes the payment too.
Not for contactless payments on the Eatcard Self-Order Kiosk or POS tablet. With Tap to Pay, the screen itself is the payment terminal. Guests pay with a contactless card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on the same device they ordered on, without a separate PIN terminal next to it.
A separate terminal is one more device to manage. It has to be mounted next to the kiosk or placed on the counter, kept connected to your system. When something goes wrong, there is one more thing to check during a busy service.
For guests, it means ordering on one device and paying on another. On a self-order kiosk, that often means a card reader built in beside the screen. With Tap to Pay, ordering and paying happen on one screen.
Tap to Pay works on the Eatcard Self-Order Kiosk and on the Eatcard POS running on a tablet. At the kiosk, guests pay themselves after ordering. At the counter, staff ring up the order on the POS tablet and the guest taps to pay on the same screen.
Guests pay with a contactless debit or credit card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay on their phone. That makes contactless payment at the self order kiosk as familiar as at any regular terminal.
At the kiosk, all other payment methods stay available. Guests can still pay with cash, iDEAL or a gift card. Tap to Pay simply adds one more option.
The biggest difference is on your counter. One device handles both the order and the payment, so there is less hardware to place and connect. Guests pay on the screen they ordered on, and kiosk orders no longer need a stop at the counter to pay.
A separate PIN terminal is no longer a given. With Tap to Pay, your kiosk and POS tablet take contactless payments directly on the screen, with fewer devices on the counter and one smooth step from order to payment.
